A TOTAL of $6000 in cash and trophies is to be won at the Ag-Grow QMIX Working Horse Challenges, which will be held over two days during Queensland’s Premier Field Days.
On Thursday, July 10, the organizers will conduct the Ringer and Futurity Challenge, while the Open Challenge will be held on Friday, July 11.
According to Steph Wood, of Clermont Performance Horse Club, there are 30 nomination spots available for each event.
“While some competitors have qualified to compete, we are receiving enquiries from as far north to Cloncurry, Townsville, and Charters Towers, west to Longreach, and south to Kilkivan,” Steph said.
The Ringers Challenge is open to any rider that has not won an open event, while the Futurity is for horses aged five years and under.
Both events will include a trail, dry work pattern and snaffle bit cutting.
The Open Challenge includes dry work pattern, working cow horse, and snaffle bit cutting.
All events will be judged by John Salmond of Mt McConnell, Mt Coolan, and Tom Gleeson, Ascot, Barcaldine.
In the Open event, Elders have generously sponsored the event, and there will be a $2000 winner’s cheque.
