Strong entries for store sale expected

WITH the Central Highland currently experiencing a tremendous season, the Ag-Grow Super Store Cattle Show and sale, held in conjunction with Ag-Grow QMIX is expected to be better than previous years.

That is according to organizer of the event, Tim Maguire of Maguires Real Estate and Livestock, at Emerald.

“We are expecting up to 700 head drawn locally to compete in the show and sale,” Mr Maguire said.

“And while we expect to yard quality cattle, we also expect the store market to be solid.
“We are expecting a strong buying panel from grass-fed and grain fed finishers, as well as feedlot operators.”

The judging will start at 8am sharp on Friday morning, followed by the sale at 9am.

The cattle will be judged in three categories.

There is a class for steers under 300kg, a class for steers over 300kg, and heifers suitable for the feedlot trade.

The event is sponsored by Rabobank who have earmarked $800 for the first place in each class, while second place will receive $500 courtesy of Ag-Grow QMIX.

Third place is a $250 product voucher sponsored by selling agents Maguires Real Estate and Livestock.
